I was always told that the small heat powered stove fans would not work well on a wood cook stove ... but times have changed. I bought a Viola heat powered fan and it works very well. (yay) It may be the design has changed over the years or a better heat sensitive metal, not sure but the little thing works!

I couldn't find a Viola brand. There was Ecofan and Kenley.
Does yours have 2 or 4 blades?
