Something everyone should prepare for ... (IMO )
Kraft Heinz to shut 7 plants and cut 2,600 jobs
Kraft Heinz is closing down seven plants in North America, the company said Wednesday.
Over the next two years, six manufacturing facilities in the U.S. and one in Canada will shut down, Kraft Heinz (KHC) said in a statement
About 2,600 workers will lose their jobs.
The company says it will use the savings to install "state-of-the-art production lines" at its other facilities.
Doug Leikness is president of the employee union at the Oscar Mayer plant in Wisconsin, which is one of the facilities slated to be closed.
He said word came "out of the blue" that his plant would close by 2017, putting the 650 union members he oversees out of work.
"We have severance language [in our contract]," he said, "but it's going to really hurt some of us. Especially the younger folks."
The other locations closing down include two in California, and one each in New York and Pennsylvania.
"Kraft Heinz fully appreciates and regrets the impact our decision will have on employees, their families and the communities in which these facilities are located," Kraft Heinz said in a statement

MillerCoors to close Eden, NC brewery ...
ALBANY — Beer giant MillerCoors announced this week that the company would be closing its Eden, NC brewery by September 2015 in order to streamline operations amidst a steady decline over the past several years
#According to a press release from the company the decision to close the brewery, which has been in operation since 1978 and was the first to brew Miller Genuine Draft, stems from a “significant” distribution overlap due to the location’s close proximity to the company’s newest brewery, located in Shenandoah, VA, 200 miles away
“Today we made the difficult decision to close our brewery in Eden NC in order to optimize our brewery footprint and streamline operations for greater efficiency across our remaining seven breweries,” said MillerCoors Chief Integrated Supply Chain Officer Fernando Palacios in the release.
#One of those seven breweries is the Albany location which company officials confirmed would see increased production over the course of the next 12 months as the company winds down the Eden operation. Brands produced in Eden include Blue Moon seasonals, Coors Light, Miller Lite and Miller High Life, but no word has been given of concerning which products or how much volume will be transitioned to Albany

the whole having a steady job thing is so far from the natural cycle of things that I am really surprized that the concept has survived this long. 40 hours a week 50 weeks a year find that in nature.

Greensboro-based Mack Trucks plans to lay off 400 employees at a Pennsylvania plant. The company is cutting the jobs at its Lower Macungie Township plant because of weak demand, the Morning Call newspaper in Pennsylvania reports. The heavy trucks manufacturer announced in 2008 that it would relocate its headquarters to Greensboro from Allentown, Pa., to improve efficiency and be closer to Volvo Trucks North America. Mack opened its Greensboro headquarters in 2009 next to Volvo Trucks, bringing with it close to 500 jobs and an investment of $17.7 million within three years. The new Mack jobs were expected to pay an average of $73,800 per year. www.bizjournals.com/triad/news/2015/12/15/mack-trucks-to-lay-off-400-in-pennsylvania.html
